During a Reading of the Meditations

Based off observations in Descartes, Meditations on First Philosophy (Pages from Latin 2nd edition text)

The name of a thing is not simply "a thing"; it is a situation, a set of circumstances.

I -know- that I have an experience when I'm having an experience; what can we learn about how we know from that? Is it "clear and distinctness"? Or something else?
