The Current Status of the College Student
I've finished the second week of the second semester, and it's business as usual. I'm looking for something to do, 3/4 of the hall is wasted...you know. The usual.
I cannot figure out just why people have to spend so much of their time drunk. Or, at least, college students. In the case of an older drinker, they can at least attempt to blame it on their past. But we're in our high teens and 20's, and apparently the only way to properly live is to be drunk when you're that age.
What's the point? Is drinking really worth all the crap you have to go through, from legal repurcussions to hangovers and potential diseases...Is it that great? I don't know, and I guess I don't care. I suppose it's best just to smile at the men relaxing next to you, as soon you will be above them.
But enough with the drinking. Unlike them, I have a future to think about. All is well in classes, although I have yet to find out exactly what it is I'm getting myself into. I love the subject of politics and ideologies. Not because I'm enthralled with the process of tax legislation, but I love the idea of government. Government is a reflection of ourselves, how we choose to lead and be led in turn. It's about human ideas and philosophies. And so, for that reason, I've begun reading all sorts of book on the subject. I would like to someday be reffered to by students as "the guy" who knows this stuff.
Ah yes, the sound of someone blaring Dave Matthews. Back to the real world.
