Extreme Readery

Or "Xtreme Readage", if you will.

I decided for whatever reason that I needed to figure out all of the books I've read over this summer so far, and so I'm putting them up here. I think partly to brag, and partly to explain why I am like this. Anyway, since summer began I have read the following (in the order I read them, to the best of my memory):

Shadow of the Giant - Orson Scott Card

The Prince/Life of Castruccio/Parts of The Discourses - Niccolo Machiavelli

The Republic - Plato

The Odyssey - Homer

The Inferno - Dante Alighieri

Ender's Game - Orson Scott Card (2nd time reading it)

Speaker for the Dead - Orson Scott Card

Xenocide - Orson Scott Card

Children of the Mind - Orson Scott Card

Dracula - Bram Stoker

Fahrenheit 451 - Ray Bradbury (2nd time reading it)

Common Sense/American Crisis Papers/Rights of Man/Age of Reason/Agrarian Justice/Letters to the Citizens of the United States - Thomas Paine

The Federalist Papers - Alexander Hamilton/James Madison/John Jay

Candide - Voltaire

Utopia - Thomas More

The Alphabet of Manliness - Maddox

1984 - George Orwell (2nd time reading it)

The Martian Chronicles - Ray Bradbury

--Currently working on:

Paradise Lost - John Milton

--Intend to finish by summer's end (just under one month):

One Hundred Years of Solitude - Gabriel Garcia Marquez

The Histories - Herodotus

The Idiot - Fyodor Dostoevsky

Apology/Crito/Phaedo/Symposium - Plato

I'm still not sure exactly why I felt it necessary to compile this list, but here it is. I've concluded that it's longer than typical safety regulations would recommend. But then again, I don't get out much either.
